The
concert series performances are set! Mark your calendars and plan to come and
experience extraordinary musicianship and entertainment. Ticket prices: $15 for
Anita Johnson, $10 for all other concerts.

January 21, 2012 Saturday evening, 7PM: Anita Johnson, soprano
Anita
holds degrees from the University of Michigan and University of Southern
California. She was the resident soprano at the Manheim Opera House in Germany
for a number of years and has won numerous prizes in international competition.
She currently teaches at the Harlem School of the Arts in NY and sings with the
New York Metropolitan Opera in addition to her international performing career.
Her repertoire spans all genres of music from opera to jazz to sacred. In
addition to a few opera arias, Anita will be singing Duke Ellington and Debussy
selections among others.

Back by popular demand – Karen and Chris
Romig (flute & piano) and Palm Strings Quartet

This program provides a variety of music for everyone’s enjoyment. Karen and Chris will present music with a Love Theme including composers such as Grieg and Kreisler while Palm Strings will be performing Beethoven String Quartet in F major along with some fun works composed and premiered by the Quartet San Francisco including a South American-style Mambo and Tango. Begin your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with a concert by Celtic Stew, the premiere Irish Pub Style
band of Southwest Florida. The lead singer, Joe Fair, is a
former barbershop quartet champion who really knows how to keep the crowd
involved. He hails from Ireland with dual-US citizenship. The band uses guitar,
mandolin, percussion, pennywhistle, violin, among other traditional Irish
instruments. You’ll be clapping and singing along the time the evening is ended!

Concordia College Touring Choir
The Tour Choir is an auditioned mixed-voice choir which sings music from a wide spectrum of cultures, eras, and styles. Students in the Tour Choir represent a wide variety of different academic disciplines-- from education and music to social work and religion, with all sharing a love of singing and using their gifts to the glory of God. This year’s tour is entitled Let the People Praise Thee. We will be performing a concert which will feature religious and folk music from around the world including: Pachelbel’s Singet dem Herrn, Byrd’s Ave Verum Corpus, Manz’s E’en So Lord Quickly Come, Hogan’s Elijah Rock, and Mathias’ Let the People Praise Thee.
